Robin Williams and Christopher Reeve (the original Superman actor) were roommates at Juilliard School in New York where they studied drama and became lifelong friends.

Before they made it big in the movie business, they promised each other that if one of them did exceptionally well, they would support the less fortunate one.

As things turned out, both men had very successful careers and blockbuster films.

But after Christopher Reeve’s catastrophic 1995 horse riding accident, Robin Williams promised to pick up whatever hospital costs that Christopher’s insurance didn’t cover.

Eventually, Robin Williams also became very involved in Christopher’s foundation – The Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation. Robin didn’t just support them financially but also in person.

Robin was always by Christopher’s side throughout his difficult struggle with quadriplegia, even to the very end.

Before I found out about all of this, I always thought of Robin Williams as an incredible actor, but now he’s become even more than that in my eyes. He was a wonderful human being and a true friend. RIP Robin Williams.
