This Sikh Man Goes Against His Religion’s Rules And Was Caught In A Photo. I’m Stunned

Recently, 22 year old student Harman Singh went against his Sikh religion’s rules. He wasn’t being a rebel though. His reason is a lot deeper than that.

He was at home when he suddenly heard a loud and nasty crash outside his house. A little boy was on his way to school with his older sister when he was hit by a car. Seeing the 5 year old boy bleeding and in pain on the pavement, he knew he had to do something.

Harman broke religious protocol by removing his turban and placing it under the stricken boy’s head.

“I saw a child down on the ground and a lady was holding him. His head was bleeding, so I unveiled my turban and put it under his head,” he said.

Harman is a strong follower of Sikhism and followers of the religion (men and women) do not cut their hair and cover their heads at all times as a sign of respect to their gurus. Removal of the turban in public is almost like being naked in the eyes of their religion.  The turban symbolizes discipline, integrity and humility and is only removed when bathing and washing.

Despite all of this though, Harman removed his turban at once to help an injured stranger and is being heralded as a hero!

“I wasn’t thinking about the turban. I was thinking about the accident and I just thought, ‘he needs something on his head because he’s bleeding’. That’s my job — to help,” he said.

Another passerby who saw the car accident commented: “Being a Sikh myself, I know what type of respect the turban has. People just don’t take it off — people die over it. Harman didn’t care that his head was uncovered in public. He just wanted to help this little boy.”

“Thousands of people have said ‘well done’. I was only doing what I had to and trying to be a decent member of the community,” Harman added. “Thanks for all the messages and calls… thanks to all the worldwide Facebook members who messaged me. I think I just did my job as a human, nothing else.”

Religious differences are a cause of huge conflict in many parts of the world. But in this case, one man’s faith and humanity actually helped to save the life of another human. We salute you, good sir!
