This Donation Note From A Homeless Man Stunned A Church And Not Because Of How Much Was In It

Volunteers at a church recently had a “Muffin Ministry” service where they welcomed the homeless and served them breakfast. However, one person attended the service and then dropped something in the collection plate that had everyone talking.

This was shared on the church’s Facebook page:

The words on the envelope read:

“Please dn’t [sic] be mad I don’t have much, I’m Homeless. God Bless”

The church posted the following message:

“A homeless neighbor giving back yesterday.
About the widow who gave sacrificially, Jesus said, “…This poor widow has put in more than all of them; for all of them have contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in all she had to live on” (Luke 21:3-4).”

It turns out that what was inside the envelope was eighteen cents. But this was probably everything the homeless person had. To the pastor at the church, Patrick Hamrick, it was a generous and appreciated donation:

“We would like the dear soul who donated 18 cents to know that everyone on our team was moved by the spirit in which the gift was made. We gratefully acknowledge that this individual, out of his poverty, has given all he had to live on.”

The homeless person gave everything he had back. So many of us have much more than we really need, we hope this inspires you to be more generous today in your finances, words, encouragement and time.
