He Created Something AWESOME In His Backyard… Here’s How You Can Do It Too.
Leisha, the brains behind a popular DIY site called Homemade Toast, posted this truly amazing and handy guide on how to make a completely leak-proof water blob for your family and friends to enjoy in the hot summer months. It’s so easy and yet so impressive. You’ll need an iron, painter’s plastic, parchment paper and a tiny bit of duct tape…and water of course! Follow these easy steps and you’ll be having the time of your life this summer:
This is how you can make your own leak-proof water blob!
The secret to this is an iron. You’ll be using it to melt the ends of the painter’s plastic together to form a leak-proof seal.
First start with a long piece of parchment paper.
Fold it in half, length-wise, then draw a line about 2-inches out from the fold. This will be your guide of how far to iron.
Begin with the edge of plastic opposite of its fold, starting at the corner. Open up the parchment and place your plastic inside, aligning it to the fold of the parchment.
Then, simply fold the parchment back over.
Now use your hot iron to slowly melt the plastic together by running the iron across the line on the parchment. But please watch out not to let the iron touch the bare plastic – it will melt a hole in it, and will make a huge mess on your iron!
Let it cool for a few seconds before removing the parchment, then simply continue to seal all of the edges the same way.
Now, carefully cut a small slit in the folded end of the plastic, near the corner. Place your garden hose in a few feet and prop the corner up so that the water doesn’t spill out while you fill your water blob.
Seal off the hole with a piece of duct tape – or use your iron and parchment to melt the edge! I chose duct tape because I plan on using it again a few times.
Now let the kids loose!
Simple tip: You can add food coloring with the water to make it bluer.
Amazing fun for the whole family!
No matter how big or small! 🙂
How incredible does that look? The water blob can keep kids entertained for hours. For more detailed guidelines check out the post by Leisha on Homemade Toast.
