He Finds A Secret Letter From His Wife After She Passed Away. Now He Knows What He Has To Do

Don and Babbette were happily married for many decades when Babbette was suddenly diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. After fighting the disease with strength and courage, she succumbed to it a few months ago.

Don was understandably devastated. He slowly pieced his life back together and was going through their shared belongings when he found a secret letter that his wife wrote to him hidden under some files. The letter read:

“You move on and live each day. Feel me in the morning air, and when you wake up and make your coffee. I will be there always.”

Babbette was completely right – she will be there always. Before she died, at her request, Don planted sunflower seeds on a sixty foot wide, four and a half mile long strip of land.

Sunflowers were her favorite of all flowers, and Don believes that they are an accurate representation of her being.

“They fit her personality,” he said. “She’d walk into a room and her smile would light up a whole room.”

Because she was so well-liked in the community, neighbors gave up portions of their land to make room for the sunflower seeds, asking Don to pay whatever price he felt was right.

At the end of the summer, the sunflowers will attempt to fulfill one of Babbette’s dreams — “a life without cancer for herself and others.”

The seeds will be harvested and sold, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to cancer research, hospitals, and patient advocacy.

Don created “Babbette’s Seeds of Hope” to ensure her legacy will live on.

“She’s such a beautiful woman,” said Don. “She didn’t really know how beautiful she was, inside and out.”

And like the sunflowers growing along their house, Babbette’s beauty will continue to shine through.
